The Richmond District is sometimes known New Chinatown in San Francisco, and firecrackers echoed loud and often on Sunday as the neighborhood rang in the New Year. With the sun shining — fitting weather for celebrating the arrival of spring — I had the perfect excuse to hop on my bike and ride up to the business district to see what was happening and mess around with my new camera.
Seeing the generations of families out together brought a smile to my face, and I couldn’t help but laugh out loud watching the boy in a sparkly gold jacket hopping along the sidewalk riding his grandmother’s cane line a horse.
Everywhere I looked, good luck red was the color of the day!
Best wishes and prosperity for the Chinese New Year. And feel free to send me red envelopes!
